Hotel Triple Play Solution Based on Ethernet Network

I. User Pain Points vs. Solution Advantages

1. Traditional Solution – Hotel Pain Points

× Investment Cost Issues

Large-scale cabling works with complex construction and high integrated wiring costs. Multiple cables run to each guest room, at least 6 lines per room.

× Inconvenient Upgrades

Data, TV, and telephone systems operate independently, making service integration difficult and upgrades inconvenient, often leading to losses on early investments.

× High Later Maintenance Costs

Numerous system devices increase hotel investment and maintenance workload. Traditional TV and telephone services are hard to maintain remotely, resulting in high maintenance costs and inconvenience.

2. Traditional Weak Current Solution – Additional Hotel Pain Points

× Weak Current System: Three Subsystems

TV system via coaxial cable, telephone system via telephone lines, and network system via Ethernet cables.

× System Deficiencies

1. No Cable Reuse: Ethernet, coaxial, and telephone cables must be laid from the equipment room to weak current shafts and guest rooms, causing complex cabling, higher construction and material costs.

2. Numerous and Complex Devices, Difficult Maintenance: This method requires at least 11 types of equipment, leading to complex maintenance and the need for professional technicians.

3. Poor Scalability: Relocating or adding TV and telephone points requires re-cabling, long construction periods and high costs.

4. Poor User Experience: Individual subsystems offer low performance, such as blurry analog TV with poor clarity and high interference. Subsystems are isolated and cannot provide interactive experiences.

3. Triple Play Solution – Pain Point Resolution

Solution Architecture:

√ Cost Reduction

Simplifies the network to the greatest extent, reduces cabling, equipment and maintenance costs, while delivering high-quality integrated services.

√ Triple Play Integration

Triple Play carries Internet, TV and telephone services over a single network, sharing lines and equipment (one Ethernet or fiber cable).

√ High Cost Performance

Related products are mature, stable and easy to manage. Combined with cost-effective carrier-grade terminals (ONTs, integrated gateways, enterprise gateways, etc.).

Unified communications refers to a new communication model integrating computer technology and traditional communications. It merges computer networks and traditional telecom networks onto one platform, supporting voice, fax, data transmission, audio and video conferencing, call centers, instant messaging and more.

In hotels, unified communications enable full IP-based weak current systems. Wired networks, Wi-Fi, IPTV, telephones, emergency calls, video surveillance, room control and information publishing are all carried over a single IP network, achieving true multi-network convergence.

The solution uses one line and one terminal per room to access all hotel services, greatly reducing cabling, equipment and construction costs. Optimized hardware and software for hotel scenarios further improve intelligent guest experience.

4. Triple Play Solution Description

* All connections from the equipment room to rooms and access points use Ethernet. The hotel equipment room deploys cluster servers, switches, telephone hosts, routers, firewalls, room control systems, voice control systems, etc.

* Guest rooms use CAT5E/CAT6E Ethernet cables to connect to integrated gateways in weak current boxes. Other service cables are also connected in-room. Enterprise gateways are used in offices and finance areas.

* Broadband Internet

The hotel routing system handles external Internet access and internal network management. Each room is connected directly via LAN with a dedicated broadband account configured on the enterprise gateway.

* Public Wi-Fi

Hotel wireless APs connect to the internal network via PoE switches. Managed by the built-in AC module in the router, centralized management and seamless roaming are supported.

* IPTV Interactive TV

TVs in guest rooms connect to the HDMI port of the integrated gateway for direct interactive TV playback.

The UI supports live TV, on-demand HD content, local attractions, hotel introduction, QR code ordering, online music and more.

* In-Room Wi-Fi Hotspot

Guest rooms use built-in Wi-Fi from the integrated gateway; offices use Wi-Fi from enterprise gateways.

Wi-Fi SSIDs can be named by room number for easy connection.

Each room supports independent 100M bandwidth.

* Telephone System

Standard telephones in rooms connect to telephone ports on integrated or enterprise gateways, then link to the SIP server (built into the IP PBX routing system). Internal calls are switched directly via SIP server; external calls are routed through voice gateways.

Integrated gateways support analog telephone ports. IP phones can also be deployed at a higher cost. External lines require FXO voice gateways.

* Surveillance System

IP cameras connect to dedicated PoE switches via Ethernet ports on integrated terminals.

II. Solution Features

* Smart Interactive TV System

Dedicated IPTV smart hotel system integrates live TV, playback, VOD, local cinema, video looping, third-party apps, flight info, local attractions, custom videos, rolling captions, image rotation, QR code ordering, online service calls and self-service information publishing.

* PABX Telephone System

Multi-brand compatible IP PBX voice gateways are recommended. Supports voice, fax, recording, voicemail, timed calls, IVR, call recording, wake-up calls and more.

* Wi-Fi Roaming

Built-in AC in enterprise routers connects to the core switch, enabling wireless roaming across the hotel. Dual-band 300M–1200M signals are supported.

* Stable Network

Dedicated broadband per room ensures stable bandwidth and prevents internal network attacks. Virus infection in one room does not affect the whole hotel, ensuring reliable network operation.

* Unified Management

Cloud platform enables centralized device management. For non-proprietary devices, unified management is available via enterprise routers, with TR069 for gateway configuration and SIP services for telephone system setup.

* Terminal Management

Terminals including fiber integrated gateways, Ethernet integrated gateways and enterprise gateways can adopt cost-effective carrier-grade equipment to lower deployment costs. Contact the sales department for details.

* Multi-Service Over One Line

All hotel services run on one unified network, replacing three separate networks. Only one Ethernet or fiber cable per room reduces cabling costs by over 60–70%.

* Lower Maintenance Labor and Costs

One line per room reduces intermediate equipment, power consumption, maintenance workload and outages or tripping incidents that negatively impact guest experience.
